Potential Over Perfection

Not Every Story Fits a Traditional Scholarship.

The WHS Gosling Alumni Giving Fund was created to recognize the students whose determination and growth matter just as much as grades or résumés.

About the WHS Gosling Alumni Giving Fund

The WHS Gosling Alumni Giving Fund was created to support “the kid in the middle” – a graduating Gosling who may not have the highest GPA or the greatest financial need, but who shows up every day with consistent effort, service, character, and promise.

These are the students who work hard, contribute quietly, grow through challenges, and keep moving forward. Too often, they fall outside the narrow criteria of traditional scholarships. This fund exists to make sure they are not overlooked.

Founded by alumni from the Watertown High School Class of 1984, the Fund reflects the values that defined our own experience as Goslings: perseverance, mutual support, and belief in one another – regardless of labels or rankings. Today, that same spirit fuels our commitment to the next generation.

As a non-profit organization, the WHS Gosling Alumni Giving Fund provides financial scholarship assistance to deserving Watertown High School seniors pursuing four-year colleges, two-year programs, or trade schools. The scholarship is intentionally broad, because success takes many forms – and all post-secondary paths deserve respect and support.

This is not a scholarship for perfection. It’s a scholarship for potential.

Why This Scholarship Matters.

Watertown High School is extraordinary.

In fact, Watertown awards the third-highest total amount of private scholarship dollars in the country for a public high school. And yet – until now – there has never been a true alumni-driven giving fund dedicated to supporting Goslings based on effort, growth, and character.

That’s the gap this fund was created to fill.

The WHS Gosling Alumni Giving Fund represents alumni stepping forward – not just to give back, but to give differently. It ensures that students who embody perseverance and aspiration receive encouragement at a pivotal moment, regardless of where they fall on a traditional scale.

Scholarship Eligibility

The scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors of Watertown High School who are continuing their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the United States and are in good academic standing.

The WHS Gosling Alumni Giving Fund exists for those whose effort, perseverance, and character deserve to be seen – and supported.
